I have seen a demonstration of a really cool tool for studying chaos circuits or for producing sound effects. It is the og Variable Delay Unit. It allows you to delay og signals from 10us to over 3 seconds in 10us increments. You plug it up to your PC through a COM port and set the delay with software for 2 og channels. Then you connect it to your circuit/system with coax cables. It works great! It has been used to stabilize periodic orbits in chaotic oscillators by implementing continuous proportional feedback. It also makes a great echo generator for audio signals. Anyone interested in it can find out more about it form Dr. Ned Corron at ned.corron@dynetics.com or (205)922-9230. I believe it costs less than $500.
