Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has any amazing insights to offer on the quotation "...the most poignant effects in tragedy are often articulated with objects rather than in words." In relation to Aeschylus and Sophocles.
The questions I am asking myself are:
would it be relevant to set a broader boundary on the term 'objects' given that the humans in many of the plays are treated like objects by the gods (cf Heracles' cavalier treatment of Philoctetes)and
does this question give scope for a discussion about the visual versus the verbal, and is this a viable discussion to have about plays where we have no stage directions.
