I have a 5 page essay to do on Democracy In America. I know what info I want to use and how I want to do the essay. My problem is the very first paragraph.

The essay has to be written with a thesis topic, so my first paragraph has to be a concise statement which describes exactly what my essay will be proving. I have to include all of this in my essay: discuss Tocqueville's essment of American society. What are the major ways in which he characterizes the culture and personality of Americans,and which did he think weremost distinctive? Based on readings of Democracy In America, do you think his essment was correct for the United States in the 1830's, and if so, do you think it still applies to the United States today?

I cannot get the first paragraph to sound or look right, I need help and some peoples opinions. thank you very much!!
