The entire Human Comedy is now available free on the net, so you should have plenty of browsing to do. At this site:

you will find a listing of stories. You will see that Lost Illusions is comprised of three parts: Two Poets, A Distinguished Provincial at Paris, and Eve and David.
At the end of each story is a listing of all characters in that story which appear in other stories and the names of the stories so you can easily trace your favorites. I believe that Lucien was a member of a group similar to the one you mentioned.
