: I'm afraid to say I don't know a huge amount about it. But I can say that my New Testament proffesor calls it "Thomas, Gospel of Jesus the Divine Brat." From what I've heard it includes such lovely portraits of the savior as Jesus withering the hand of a playmate etc. It's the attempt by an early heretic to "fill in" the information about Jesus' childhood. We should be all the more convinced of its fallacy just by thinking logically. You think Jesus just sat down with Thomas and said "Hey Tom Let me tell you about my childhood. Did I ever tell you about the time a withered a kid's hand?". The Apochrapha is interesting, sometimes helpful, sometimes amusing, sometimes dangerous, but never a good idea for the weak of faith. You cannot judge something accurately without a firm criteria for judgement.
In reply to ken and Maggie Robertson:
How can one be sure of any "holy" book? "The
word of God or Jesus" yeah, but it's written and
translated by man. Look into the sun; that's a
true gospel. The only true gospel is your own.
