It may be helpful to research Brecht's views on sport because he has contrasted the state of German theatre with the control and entertainment of sport. Just an idea.

He wanted his audience not jsut watch the play but to spectate it ( like a boxing ring ) also he did not want the audience to be directly involved with the action of the play thus having a satge as a boxing ring would seperate the auidence from th world of the play ( once again like in a boxing match, you can't join in you are physically seperated)
