Quite often when i get stuck on an essay i have a tendency to just stick the title up on a discussion board and see what happens. My apologies if it appears as though i am doing the same again..... But i am kind of hooked on this question. I'm not stuck i'm just worried that i wont have time to do it justice and thought maybe getting some help would save the time consuming business of getting things straight in my own mind without any outside stimulus....
Anyhow apologies over
The question is such "Why does Hume want to establish a standard of taste?"... I know the kind of thing i'm after but i don't want to just go through the text siting references and pitting empirical against rational thought etc. (though obviously that IS far too simple) but i mean everytime i think about it i get extremely confused and idea leads to idea untill i'm never quite sure where to start. I know i'm waffling and none of this is relevant but if anyone has any thoughts on this it'd be great.
THANKS!
Amy Smith
PS - alternatively if anyone has any good links to sites that deal specifically with Hume's aesthetics that they think would be helpful that would be great too.....
