Hmmm. Let's see, maybe if you read the book. Maybe if you read the dammn cliff notes you'd figure it out considering its the most goddammn obvious symbolism in literature this side of Keanu Reeves as Christ-figure in The Matrix.
Ok, let's see -- -
Alyosha is a monk. He's religious. He doesn't speak unless the words Jesus or god come out of his mouth.
I think he represents lust.
Ivan is an intellectual socialist type. All his words are carefully chosen and he keeps pontificating.
He represents man's need to eat.
Dmitri travels 100 miles after knocking dad out cold to see his lover one last time before he kills himself.
He represents mankind's need to shop for shoes.
Smerdyakov is also a brother, but since you only said three brothers, I'm not telling you what he represents
: I guess I fall in the stupid college students looking for information too!! hehe :) Well those comments won't stop me from asking for help...cause i hope someone out there can lend a helping hand.
: What I need is toe describe the 3 prinicpal Karamazov brothers: what they are like and what do they represent, symbolically, in regard to human nature. Supporting my ertions with evidence from the novel, actions, incidents their relationships(with one another and with such characters as Smerdyakove,Zossima and their father) statements about them. And then try to explain how my chosen examples meaningfully illustrate the ideas about these characters.
: well i hope to get a bit of help on this...if not it will just annoy the ones that hate these type of posts......oh well..thanks in advance...Mike
