Two thoughts. In order to be deemed a Saint by the church, generally you need to have three miracles ociated with you. A very common one is a body that doesn't decay, they dig potential saints up many years later and see if their bodies have decomposed. If he was stinking just after he died he obviously, wasn't gonna make it a hundred years.

Second, in terms of themes, I think a good theme to the book mimics what we see around us in this Jerry Springer world. Here was a real family, real people, real lives, generally good intentions with mixed outcomes, and many lives were unfairly turned into a spectacle for the entertainment of the public. I don't know, just a thought. That's a view I came away with. Agree or disagree. bye.
