IGNMENT: explain Porfiry's function in the
novel, what he has to do with psychology and how
Dostoyevksy furthers a theme of the novel with this
character in particular.
Well, i know that Porfiry's function in the novel
was to help R realize that his theory is wrong
and to challenge it. He has to do with psychology
in that he used psychology to lead R to this realization
and to confession. How he furthers the theme, i have
anything but a clue. PLS HELP!
Well, since this IS a discussion about Dost., i would
like to put in my tidbit of C&P. I personally enjoyed
the novel. This novel placed me in a bit of a
dilemma for awhile. I contemplated about the thoughts
of R and if they are valid. I still dont know.
Its like i realize "hey, thats an idea" I know I know.
Anarchy is bad. I think...we can relate R to all the
racist groups out there in that their thinking is wrong
and they commit acts of crime because they think
they are better, like R did. After i read this novel, i went
under this phase, this seclusion from the world. I
guess i wanted to see if i was good enough to withstand
the casting out of a society. What i mean is, am i good enough
to survive alone? B/c as everybody can see, everyone needs someone
i mean to stay mentally healthy. you NEED friends, people to talk
to,etc... are you guys getting this?? okay... heehee =)
