Everybody knows about the great influence Burke has exerted on the conservative political thought,
from the xixth c. to the american right in the 1950's and
even nowadays (see Connor Cruise O'Brien "Introduction" to Penguin's "Reflections" ed.).

But what about his influence on the left?

I've seem some burkean concepts such as "political
experience" present in Hannah Arendt "On Revolution"
("The search of happiness" chapter) - maybe
they have reached her through Tocqueville;
that's ok. But I was really surprised when I realised that even E. P. Thompson
have some conceptual resemblances with Burke, especially in his critics on godwinean philosophy: dangerous to morals because
it give up the "traditions" (the godwineans
thought that man could be "perfectible" only through "reason").

Im writing an article about these subjects - any suggestions about these topics
is very welcome.
