Here is a poem I wrote:

Edmund Burke is good
Edmund Burke is great
Edmund Burke believes in the authority of the state.

But only if it's really old.
the end.

I believe that Burke was headed in the right direction when he talked about the natural, long evolution of a state with a trust in our past and the inherent rights that our ancestors have given us. But I also agree with John Stuart Mill and his ideas about the amalgamation of new and old ideas. I know that Mill and Burke are talking about kind of different topics, but I think it's a cool comparison.

I'm not a huge expert on Burke or John Stuart Mill or a huge philosopher, but I was wondering what you thought about the similarities and differences in their ideas about new and old ideas. It would be interesting to see what other people think on the matter.

Please feel free to criticize this comparison, I'm here to learn.

Blue
