: : Would someone please define full employment and the cimstances of full employment.
The term "full employment" is an illuse one which cannot be precisely grasped. Some define full employment either in terms of involvement of almost all economically active population in some kind of income generating work over a given period of time or in terms of income obtained from work/employment.Both are insufficient yardsticks to measure employment. However, a genuine definition of full employment, should take into account these: (1) the participation of all capable citizens in meaningful, socially required work, (2) adequate remuneration for work done, irrespective of what the medium of paiment may be, (3) the development of personal identity through participation in meaningful work and contributing one's share to society<; and (4) the fulfilment of self-actualisation and expectations. Without these, employment is not full employment, but coercive or alienating work to quote Marx.
