suspect that it would be a better world if we all were true to the spirit of II.1. doubt that one page in one work would do the trick, though. II.1 depends on a lot of stoic & pre-stoic thought tbefore it, particularly Epictetus, whom Marcus frequently refers to or echoes. ditto Socrates/Plato. stoicism is not dead it has had enormous influence on western thought, but it's been largely behind the scenes since Marcus. I ran across excerpts from the Meditations over 30yrs ago & have had personal copies since. would be glad to discuss Marcus or other stoics, particularly Epictetus with anyone.
