: I have been coming here and to the chat room trying to find fellow Stoics, so that we might discuss the role if any of the Meditations/Stoicism in modern society. Are the Meditations little more than quaint writtings of a long dead Roman emperor, or do they offer guidence in todays world. Is Stoicism doomed to fall by the philosophical wayside in a society more concerned with instant gratification of every ping whim or can it be a solution to nihilism, self indulgence run amuck. I have a few ideas and opinions, but would like to bounce them off a mind other than my own. I'll continue to drop by here and the chat room, I'm normally lurking here after 6 pm CST.
