: In "The Prince" Machiavelli chooses Cesar Borgia as a model. Not really a bad choice, but I think Machiavelli should have chosen himself! The guy he is looking for is him. If you're shrewd enough to know what the Princes'qualities are and what they should be, and know the politics and military theories as well, then you're probably that person you're looking for...At times, Machiavelli seems like he cannot see himself due to his search, but at times it also seems like he is trying to trick his way back into favor with the Medici, and then maybe his coup is next. Who knows? But I think Machiavelli is shrewd enough to have had a clandestine thought in the back of his mind...Eric.
