: To whom it may concern, : I am a second year philosophy student at the University of Otago in New Zealand and, as part of an essay I must state whether Ptolemy was a realist or an instrumentalist. Whilst most texts claim he was an instrumentalist, my lecturer, Dr Alan Musgrave believes he is in fact a realist, can anybody help me?
