In Freud's Interpretation of Dreams he describes a dream he had going up the stairs to his apartment( stairs represent ual ), and sees his nanny (a female that he may have an issue with) going down the stairs. He spits on the stairs and finds himself stuck to the stairs.
He dismisses his dream as not having an interpretation, since he daily goes up the stairs from his office on the ground floor to his apartment upstairs, so the dream is just a recollection of this daily journey.
Is it possible that Freud has a conflict regarding a ual issue and women, which is "sticky" with emotional paralysis? If we entertain the possibility that Freud was ually molested by his nanny, then the dream makes more sense as Freud's own unconscious is trying to tell him that he has a serious issue here.
Having ual issues might explain why his theories are so ually oriented, and why he believed for a time that hysteria was caused by ual abuse. Since he admitted to having some hysterical qualities himself, he at one time thought he had been molested by his father Jacob Freud. Perhaps this object was only a displacement of his true perpetrator, his nanny.
Then again, maybe the butler did it. ;-D
