: Hi all, : I've just finished reading City of God a couple weeks ago. On the back cover of my book is says this: : "His thesis is that Rome, as the earthly City of God, should bring together the revelation of the Bible, the wisdom of Greek philosophy and the honour and dignity of her own tradition, and so enable the members of her church to enter into the eternal City of Heaven through regeneration in Christ." : What?? Where did he get that from? Doesn't it clearly say in the book that Rome was the City of Man? Does anyone else have the opinion that Augustine thought of Rome as the City of God? Thanks, Rachel
