: I have seen references to Augustine using the Latin phrase "felix culpa" ("O happy fault, o necessary sin of Adam...") in City of God...but have been unsuccessfull in finding correct citations. Is it there, and if so where? or have I been led astray?
I have been trying to find that phrase in Augustine for some time now, not entirely successfully. Apparently it is found in an homily by Augustine, not in the City of God. But I haven't been able to find that homily either. There also appears to be a sermon where the same idea is expounded in different words. I would appreciate if anyone sent me the exact details too.
