There is no reason to suppose that a first cause or prime
mover is a God in any meaningful sense.

A first cause need not be all powerful, or even be
powerful at all. The gravitational (negative) energy of the
universe appears to be balanced exactly with the energy of the matter
(positive) in the universe. This means that the universe would have
a net energy of zero - not something from nothing, but a *net* nothing from nothing.

An uncaused first cause need not be eternal. Quantum events are
uncaused, yet are not eternal. If the energy of the universe is a net nothing,
then a quantum event is sufficient to start the universe.
