Much of the answer to this question is found in the _Summa Theologica_ in Pt I-II Q. II. With Aristotle, Aquinas thinks that happiness is the end of human life Q II, Art. 3, but his definition of that happiness [Part I-II Q. 3] differs from Aristotole's by the inclusion of God in the equation. Thus "final and perfect happiness can consist in nothing else than the vision of the Divine Essence ...[for] man is not perfectly happy so long as something remains for him to desire and seek" Q III Art 8. For perfect happiness, the intellect needs to reach the very Essence of the First Cause, And thus it will have its pion through union with God as with that object in which alone man;s happiness consists [AA 1,7; Q II A. 8, and Q III Art 8] Hope this belated answer helpd
