We all know that the Hobbesian view of the state of nature was nasty, short, and brutish. However, in further detail, what do you see in the reading? In comparison, Rousseau an Mill see the state of nature being well and good until the invention of property and society itself. The question remains did society predate the conceptualization of of property. For, the purposes of your paper property would be any economic commodity, both tangible and intangible. For example, is money property? Yes. The question remains in a Marxist realm, would society exist without property, thus giving man economic commodity. Is society based soley on economic commodity or did man commit himself to society for someother purpose? If you believe society is based upon economic umptions, then are you perceived freedoms based upon economic value in that society. For example, everyone is free to own a home; however, there are economic limitations for certain people. Is this freedom? Is the term free and freedoms interchangable within this context?
