I was just reading Ray Monk's biography and trying to grasp what Wittgenstein meant when he said than to raise doubts among matters of common sense was nonsensical. Here is my understanding of the problem: I can not seriously doubt common sense propositions because if I do all my cognitive abilities will be called into serious doubt. If this happens my framework of reference will collapse and this includes my ability to raise doubts and have them answered. So if I have doubts about common sense knowledge, then I cannot have doubts because my framework that enables me to have doubts will collapse. Therefore, this form of doubt is non sensical. This is my understanding of it and I am not sure if I am making snese myself. Any replies or clarifications would be helpful.
