: I've noticed that there exists a "spot" theme in this book. Franny notices a spot of light on the table while she is having dinner with Lance and she sais she wanted to go to sleep in it - Zooey stares at the root beer(?) spot on the ceiling while he is lying on the ground talking to Franny etc... : What do you interpret this spot theme to be?
