I am doing my senior seminar project on Holden Caulfield
and the Catcher in the Rye. I am a theatre major, and am
attempting to create a reasonable "playlet" from selected
scenes of the novel.
this project will not be advertised, and should be performed
only in front of my professors and peers within my discipline.
I am not attempting to make money off of this, nor is my intent
to distort or infringe upon the brilliance of J.D. Salinger.
this is a RESEARCH project, one which I approach with the utmost
sincerity and seriousness. the main focus of my research is the
character of Holden Caulfield; the performance is an aspect of
the character ysis. so please, no posters telling me how much
of a "phony" Holden would think I am, or that Salinger would not
endorse such a project. because, the truth is, I sincerely doubt
that Salinger appreciates any of this (meaning the board) as well
as all the supposed "intellectual writings" on his creations.
with that said, what I am wondering is: has anyone attempted such
a task before? any help on suggested scenes or research aspects I should be
aware of, please feel free to let me know...thanks
no.
P.S.: sorry if I am coming off all high-and-mighty! I really
am not trying to be a jerk-off, it just accidently came out that way...
I really am excited about this project, and would appreciate any help or
suggestions that come my way!
